Meet the Team – Neil Smith

Precision at Work. Adventure at Heart.

Experience, Dedication and a Passion for the Outdoors

Every successful inspection starts with the person carrying it out.

The latest equipment, the best procedures and the highest standards all matter, but ultimately it's the experience, judgement and professionalism of the technician that gives clients confidence in the decisions being made.

That's why we're proud to introduce Neil Smith, one of Libellum's Senior NDT Technicians.

Neil is qualified in Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual Testing (VT). His broad range of qualifications allows him to support clients across multiple industries, undertaking everything from routine inspections to more complex advanced NDT projects where accuracy and confidence are critical.

But qualifications only tell part of the story.

Those who have worked alongside Neil know him as someone who is calm under pressure, approachable, dependable and always willing to go the extra mile. Whether he's working in a fabrication workshop, on a manufacturing site or supporting clients offshore, he approaches every inspection with the same attention to detail and commitment to delivering work to the highest possible standard.

For Neil, every inspection matters.

He understands that behind every report is an asset that people rely on, a project working to tight deadlines, and a client placing their trust in Libellum to provide clear, accurate and independent information. That responsibility is something he never takes for granted.

Outside of work, Neil's passion for challenging himself continues.

He has recently completed the Hadrian's Wall Walk, covering almost 85 miles from coast to coast. It's no small achievement. Days of walking across changing terrain demand resilience, preparation and determination—qualities that are equally valuable in the world of non-destructive testing.

For Neil, reaching the finish wasn't just about completing the distance. It was about enjoying the journey, taking in the history and scenery, and proving to himself that with the right mindset, even the toughest challenges can be overcome one step at a time.

When he's not carrying out inspections, you'll often find him doing exactly what he enjoys most—being outdoors.

An enthusiastic hiker, Neil is always looking for his next walking adventure, whether that's exploring the British countryside or tackling new routes further afield. During the winter months he enjoys skiing, while the warmer weather provides the perfect excuse to get out on a paddleboard and make the most of the water.

It's a balance that keeps him motivated, active and always ready for the next challenge.

At Libellum, we believe our people are our greatest strength.

Technical competence is essential, but so are character, integrity and the willingness to continually challenge yourself. Neil embodies those qualities every day, both in his professional career and in his personal life.

We're incredibly proud to have him as part of the Libellum team. His technical expertise, positive attitude and commitment to delivering the very best for our clients make him a valued colleague and someone our clients can have complete confidence in.

As Libellum continues to grow, it's people like Neil who represent exactly what our business stands for—professionalism, reliability and a genuine passion for doing the job properly.

Thank you, Neil, for everything you bring to the team, and congratulations on completing the Hadrian's Wall Walk. We look forward to seeing where your next adventure takes you—both on site and beyond.
